Switch to Mac?
I am contemplating making the move to an Apple laptop.

I noticed they have some great deals on refurbished Powerbooks, iMacs, and iBooks over at Apple.com. (Apple Certified no less!)
Has anyone I know made the “switch”? I’d be interested in your feedback.

If I could run Autocad on a Mac I would’ve switched along time ago. I’ve heard, I’m no expert, but for what you do, Apple is def the way to go.

Check out the forums, I can’t get on that site at work anymore, but if I remember correctly they had a whole section on Mac/PC and why to switch.
Well, some important things to keep in mind: Software is a little more hard to come by (if you know what I mean). However, their software package that is included – OSX Tiger, iLife, etc. are very well-rounded. Pro Audio benefits from Logic (even the educational version is awesome). Programming can be done, especially since you hand code alot. If you want games, well, your choices are much more limited. If you can get by without as much free software, you’ll like it. I’m not ready to “Switch” but I’m ready to add a mac to my lineup in the near future- (when mac mini’s get some major revisions, or powerbooks advance just a little bit more)
BOOO!!! BOOO!!! Horrible! Trader… You’ve been hooked by their marketing… BOOO!!!
In all seriousness, a friend of mine made the switch, but he uses it more for his photography business and working on photos and such. He loves it. He got the new G5 i think.
But you also remember when Kate was in the office and used Dreamweaver and such. It would render differently on a PC alot of the times. So we’d have to go back and change things. In that sense it was kind of a pain.
I’m not a gamer, nor am I much of a warez guy – so I don’t really see that as a problem. I plan on keeping a PC-based laptop for my programming. But for my email, proposals, project management, and general usage I would like to move to an Apple laptop of some sort.
Thanks for all the feedback.
Jason D,
The reverse is also true. A PC-created page will sometimes render differently on an Apple browser.
