MSN Messenger must die.

Is it just me or is MSN Messenger turning into the biggest hunk of crap ever to grace a system tray?

I have been prompted to install new versions of MSN Messenger several times in the last couple weeks. I have complied. Yet I sit here this morning and MSN Messenger has logged in and out a half-dozen times.

It’s enough to make me start using my GoogleTalk IM more …

Back in the day MSN Messenger was the lighter, less feature-laden competitor to the other more-developed tools like ICQ, AIM, Yahoo IM, etc.

Now there is so much crap in MSN Messenger I just keep it offline all the time. When I typed “MSN Messenger sucks” into Google it looks like I am not alone. Turns out Chris Pirillo has the same problem.

Has anyone else had that experience? Am I just crazy?

I use AIM and GoogleTalk with no problems whatsoever.

I kinda like Yahoo IM. You can voice conference, and send pics and files directly. if you have a mic you can talk long distance with no charges.
Its my way of stickin it to the man.

First off, I’m posting this from Firefox. I’m trying to permanently stop using IE. Just too many crashes. If I have to click “Don’t Send” one more time, I’ll explode.

Anyways, I was thinking how terrible MSN Messenger has become right as I started it up.. and what do I see in my inbox? Don’s newest blog. I think we need a mass exodus to Google Talk & Gmail. Google is going to pretty much rule the world, might as well jump on the bandwagon.

Hmmm … GoogleTalk (via iChat), Firefox, iPod … it’s almost all falling into place with my grand plan to switch to a mainly Mac-based platform.

You guys like Google Talk? I’m interested but didn’t want another IM. Have you seen Trillian? http://www.ceruleanstudios.com/ Apparently you can use it to chat through all the different IMs. Anyone try it? I’m sick of having two or three people on each different on. Do I really need AOL, Yahoo, MSN and now Google talk open all at the same time??????

P.S. Don, I was gonna IM you because I was about sick of you logging off and on this morning. lol.

Things are getting pretty serious with me and LaFawnduh right now. I met her using Messenger. She is the best thing that has happened to me.

    Peace out……
