Road Trip Day 7: The Road Home
After a long day touring Graceland and Nashville we slept pretty good. We woke up when our bodies told us to and took off from Nashville towards Asheville.

It was a very pretty drive on I-40 through the Smokey Mountains. From rock faces to river gorges, everything was beautiful and dramatic. The pictures hardly do it justice.

We began seeing more signs to Asheville and it was only a matter of time until the trip was over. It certainly was a fun trip. I learned a lot of old family history and got to see some relatives I haven’t seen for years (maybe decades).
Would I do a cross-country road trip again? Would I want to stare at bleak landscapes for hours on end while at the same time scanning the FM dial for decent tunage – only to sleep on lumpy mattresses? Living from a suitcase and eating fast food? Catching up on old stories (and jokes) until we end up telling the same stories (and jokes) over and over again?
As Napolean Dynamite would say, “Heck YES I would!”

Baseball 101
A couple weeks ago I bought the girls some baseball gloves and bat. Since they had just got Scrappy, I held off on giving them to them until some time later when they were bored. So, since Dad was here I figured I would ask him to work his magic – teaching them the proper way to catch and swing and stuff.

I love how Abby is standing with her mitt up in the air.

I just had to zoom in on little Abby.

I’m so depressed that Asheville is “home” for you guys now. We miss you guys and would like to come for a visit, but me and the girls want snow. Is snow season over?
Very cool. That looked like loads of fun. With as much fun as you, me, Ivon, and Dave had going to Spokane, maybe the four of us should reunite for a trip across the country hitting Great White and Scorpions shows along the way!!
P.S….did you shave yet?
If you can get up here by tonight, it’s supposed to snow again. It snowed last night. Me, Tate, and Abby had our first snowball fight ever this morning.
Good Job DonDon! I especially like the “special
edition” for Coyote Ugly! I knew I could count on the “Mak Squared” for adventure!!
Looking forward to the next time I get to see you and your wonderful family! love, Uncle Dan
memories made my friend… memories made… glad you had the opportunity and you enjoyed the trip.. welcome home….
the pics of the girls playing softball with your dad are really cool. See you soon
