Last night was one of those nights (and happens all too often) when the music was so embarrassing everything else seemed great. Check out the way the “Top 12″ contestants crap all over Modest Mouse’s “Float On”:

Which brings us to the funniest banter of the night. It had nothing to do with music – instead it was all about Simon and Ryan questioning each other’s sexuality. Great stuff!

I especially enjoy how Paula’s seeming prescription-drug-induced stare hardly breaks during the whole exchange. I also like contestant Melinda Doolittle’s reaction – a look of horror as she watches the exchange between Simon and Ryan as if she just walked in on her parents “doing it” or something:
